Quick list denoting the actions you should take if you plan to update to Apple’s latest iOS update 7.1
- If you have an existing copy of GBA4iOS 2.0 on your device, it is safe to update to the new iOS. Just remember to switch your date back once the update is done so that you can be on your way playing games again.
- If you don’t have an existing copy of GBA4iOS 2.0 in a device it has been confirmed by Riley Testut that it is, in fact, safe to update as he has updated the links to work with the new iOS. It wasn’t possible before but Riley has since fixed this issue.
- Not directly related to GBA4iOS 2.0 but still good to give a fair warning: do not update your jailbroken device to the latest iOS. You will lose your jailbreak as of March 10, 2014. Check out your favorite jailbreaking sites or twitters to know when you are safe to update. For now, stay away from it.
- You should, at one point or another - at least once every few weeks - back up your data. You can do this by going to iTunes and doing a backup of your device, but you might have to do some manual work like drag and drop in order to save your ROMs and data from GBA4iOS 2.0. Save states can be uploaded using the Dropbox feature! If you lose any skins, please go to the GBA4iOSkins and re-download them!
Always be wary of new updates as it might finally be the one to break our favorite emulators. Follow Riley Testut, Alyssa Surowiec, iEmulators and myself if you wish to know when things are safe to update.
This list applies to GBA4iOS 2.0 only. Be cautious if you have other kinds of emulators installed.
